The Skiffle Symphony was founded in 2000 by Morgan Meadow with this purpose in mind: to "raise a ruckus" in Sonoma County by playing and recording old time string and jug band music.
Along the way we've had many members and "sit in" guests, keeping the blood flowing in our "vein" of music by continuing to put out heart-felt music. Here's what it's boiled down to.
Tawnya Kovach plays autoharp, guitar, kazoo, and sings harmony and lead.
Glenn Calkins plays jug, string bass and trombone.
Morgan Meadow sings and plays fiddle, mandolins, funnel, and all purpose filler (washboard, jug, guitar, etc.)
During the past year, The Skiffle Symphony has been playing in coffeehouses and cafes all over the North Bay.
Also, the Skifflers have recently produced and released double CD featuring the singing and lead mandolin playing of the legendary Fresno musician, Kenny Hall, who has performed at an incredible number of venues across the U.S. during the last 60 years.
